An Honest Comparison Between Apple And Samsung - Which One Is The Best?

 A lot of people automatically choose either Apple or Samsung, just on the basis of those two brands. Of course, the biggest differentiator between the Samsung phones and the Apple phones is the OS. Both Apple and Samsung are very innovative companies, which applies a slightly different approach to innovation priorities among the top two smartphone vendors.    

Both Apple and Samsung have some of the best product designs in the whole industry, which is why they are both rated highly - they are both rated a 9 in that category. In terms of overall quality, both iPhones and Samsung offer great smartphones at every price point, with some really standout features on each. Whichever of these two smartphones you choose, rest assured that Apples iPhone and Samsungs are right there with one another when it comes to some of the best, cutting-edge camera tech.    

Both Samsung and Apple feature some of the best camera sensors you can find in the U.S., but the companies take different approaches to images. The camera quality is pretty good across the two types of phones, but the two brands do differ a bit.    

While consistency is still an advantage for iPhone, overall, the camera experience feels much more polished, interesting, and well-rounded on the Samsung smartphones. While consistency is still Apples strong suit, Samsung devices photography experience is much more refined, fun, and adaptable.   

For those that love playing around with the camera and trying out new camera features, Samsung phones are where you want to be. If you are looking for more customization options and features in a smartphone, or want to get a bigger screen, a Samsung smartphone might work best for you. Conversely, if you are a bit more adventurous, and you want a template to build upon that allows you to customize your device, then a Samsung phone is your best option.    

Apples iPhone designs are typically more minimal and elegant, whereas Samsungs phones come with a lot of features and customization options. Apple also tends to use the same or similar design for phones over again, whereas the style of Samsung phones seems to evolve from each version.    

When it comes to the question of how Samsung products are supposed to mesh together, Samsung tends to take inspiration from the iPhone. With Samsung, we see things like curved phones, display production, and display design, while with Apple, the innovations and customer value are in chip design, machine learning, wearable computing, and audio.    

Samsung is very popular too, but since Samsung has nearly the same OS as the rest of Android phones, people usually do not think of it as anything unique. Samsung is not the only company making android phones, whereas Apple is the only company making iOS phones. Samsung is the biggest smartphone brand in the world, and it is the largest manufacturer of smartphones running the Android OS.   

Another major difference that needs to be remembered in the comparison between iPhone 12 and Android is that Android phones are made by various manufacturers, while iOS devices are made solely by Apple. The two types of phones run different operating systems: iOS on the iPhone, Android on the majority of Samsung smartphones. If you are looking for high-end phones, two of the top-of-the-market options are Apples iPhones and Samsungs Galaxy S line, which runs Android.     

Cameras are what drives the demand for a lot of high-end phones, and both Samsung and Apples iPhone do not shy away from these two liabilities when it comes to pushing the boundaries of the tech.    

As you will see in the hardware vs. features section below, flagship Android phones pack considerably better hardware and more features for less money than iPhones. The buttery smooth software experience of iOS, on the other hand, and the close connection to other Apple products such as AirPods or the Apple Watch, are the things that make iPhones so valuable.    

By contrast, much of what makes an iPhone worthwhile is iPhones seamless iOS software experience and its tight integration with other iPhone products, such as AirPods or Apple Watch. At the opposite end of the spectrum, its OS is a proprietary piece of software that gives Apple more control over the end-user experience, which allows better RAM management, seamless software, security, and reliability to users. The iOS OS might not be the juggernaut Android is, but iOS is owned by the Apple iPhone, meaning that the manufacturer has greater control in producing updates, security patches, and rolling out updates on their devices, than users of the Android OS.    

In terms of software, the iPhone is one step ahead of Samsung, as the company continues to produce software updates to its iPhone lineup five years after a devices launch date, while Samsung stops producing software updates only after two years of the specific phones model launch. Apple will be providing software updates, new features, and support for an updated iPhone SE from 2022 for a good five-to-seven years, whereas Samsung is not going to be supporting the Galaxy S53 5G that long.   

I think it is impossible to compare Apples support to Samsungs in an equitable way, much less compare Apples support with that of any other Android manufacturer in the market, or even with that of the Pixel. Smartphones, though, may boil down to personal choices: Apples operating system is great, but Android is now equally great; if you are not invested in the Apple ecosystem, Samsung is a great option because you can switch to other Android devices, and Samsungs technology is outstanding. While Samsungs smartphones may be higher-performing on paper in certain areas, the actual real-world performance with a mixture of apps that consumers and businesses use day-to-day is generally higher-performing than the current-gen phones from Samsung.    

Both Apple and Samsung tend to reserve their specialty features for their more expensive models, such as the LiDAR scanner in the iPhone Pros, or the Galaxy S22 Ultras S Pen.
